Train from Pakistan!

This photograph was taken on Nov. 2 by Khalid Tanveer of the Associated Press. It is a train coming back from Multan after a religious congregation.
What a spectacle..! Subhanallah!

I think the title should have been "Train in Pakistan". This photo reminded me the photos of the partition eve trains crossing the borders! What a contrast! But it also points you that the rail infrastructure there is still in its nascent stage. No electrification. No hi-fi bogies. I could not see the engine. where is it? BTW where is the engine driver?
But the spirit of the crowd should be applauded. What a crowd!!!

Azeezbhai and Sadatbhai: You folks are funny. I don't see anything to applaud in this picture.

The picture shows a lack of infrastructure so typical of Muslim societies. It also indicates (if your caption is correct) an over-enthusiasm for an archaic religion that has undergone almost no reform in a millennium, a disrespect for basic macroeconomic theory and for the scientific method. Least of all, the picture shows how stupid people can be.

My dear Mysore Peshwaji,
Why do you get so agitated. Be cool and calm, brother.
Another thing is don't generalise everything. Here is a piece of advice from me. Take it in good spirit and always follow it. Don't generalise anything. Remember one who generalises always ends up lying.
Take this gem of a statement from yours: "The picture shows a lack of infrastructure so typical of Muslim societies." How many Muslim societies, have you visited, my brother? There are some Muslim countries in this planet which are far more advanced than any other country in the world.
Next, Islam is not an archaic religion. It is vibrant and alive to the needs of the contemporary world. You and I may die one day, but remember, Islam will still be there catering to the needs of the millions and millions for millions and millions of the years to come.
Islam has never shown disrespect to science. It has always encouraged science and scientific endeavours. It is because of Islam the world is able to cherish the fruits of scientific research today. If you want to realise the contribution made by the Muslims, just prepare your bill of groceries in Roman letters. It is the Muslims who learned the concept of zero and then introduced zero to Europe. Without zero everything is zero..!
Agreed, these people are stupid to travel in such a fashion. But I see their indomitable spirit of facing any type of adversity with a positive frame of mind. And finally, here is an inspiring quote :
When flood comes fish eats ants,
when flood goes down ants eat fish
All is matter of time, just hold on n let time pass.
God gives everyone opportunity!!
Allah Hafiz!!!

Azeezbhai, please get your history right.

Zero was conceptualized by Hindu Indians long long before the Islamic invasion of India. (Read Brian Rotman or Nicolas Bourbaki, among others).

"Zero" was taken from India to the Arab lands by silk/spice traders, and from there to Turkey and eventually to the rest of Europe.

To suggest that zero originated with Muslims is incorrect. To take credit when it is not earned is, I hope, un-Islamic!

My dear Mysore Peshwaji,
You are correct. Zero was not invented by Muslims. But they INTRODUCED it to the western world. Prince Charles in one of his speeches has acknowledged this feat.
Actually, what I wanted to write was "It is the Muslims who learned the concept of zero from Indians and Chinese and then introduced zero to Europe. Without zero everything is zero..!"
But, some words were left out inadvertently. And as I pressed the enter button, I didn't have chance to rectify it. I thought I would put a correction later.
What to do..! Whatever happens occur by the will of Allah!
Thank you.
