N Ataullah Bhai sent me this gem of piece. The rough translation of it is as follows:
"Always pray to God to bestow what is good for you. Do not ask something you like. It is quite possible that the thing which you deserve and rightfully yours is much much bigger than the thing which you like to have."
"உங்களுக்கு விருப்பமானதை அல்லாஹ்விடம் இறைஞ்சாதீர்கள். "எனக்கு நன்மையானதையே அருள்வாயாக" என்றே எப்போதும் அல்லாஹ்விடம் பிரார்த்தியுங்கள். உங்களுக்கு உரித்தானதை விட உங்களுக்கு விருப்பமான பொருள் மிக மிகச் சிறியதாக இருப்பதற்கு வாய்ப்பு இருக்கிறது."Jazakallah, Ataullah Bhai.

It is the most touching message.
In a similar vein God says "It may well be that you dislike a thing even though it is good for you, and it may well be that you like a thing even though it is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not know." (Al Quran : 2 : 216)
The last line "Allah knows and you do not know" says it all.
